Foodtown Market to come to the old GU!
PKS Supermarkets, operating as Foodtown Market
addresses two Village Boards Tuesday, April 2, 2002
The Foodtown name represents a consortium of over 60 markets in the region which
allows the 5 participating companies to purchase large quantities
of foodstuffs which allows each of them to pass along the savings
to their customers. The Foodtown name has been around for years
located in the New York, New Jersey, and Long Island area.
PKS, which stands for Paul and Sydney Katz, has purchased stores
in Amenia, Dover Plains, Cold Spring and La Grange, will be operating
14 supermarkets and employ over 700 associates.

At a joint meeting with the C.S. Planning Board and the
C.S. Architectural Review Board,
PSK Supermarkets, Inc., located in Mt. Vernon,
gave a most impressive presentation, including pictures from their other markets, of what they have in mind for
our community.
With 20 persons in attendance, this is clearly the best news
we have regarding our area.

are part of the family owned business of PSK
and currently run 11 Markets. They stressed cleanliness, variety,
quality, as being paramount in their operations. They plan to
have apx 35 employed at the Cold Spring market.
Noah Katz details an aggressive marketing approach that can only
help and make our community proud to have such an asset as
they are proposing. He stressed their community involvement and
included in their information packet copies from over
60 recent letters sent to PKS as Foodtown thanking them for their
community support and concern.
